Megan Leach, DVM
Dr. Megan Leach is the owner of Brushy Creek and leads the practice with a foundation of passion, compassion and excellence. She earned her doctorate in veterinary medicine from Texas A&M University in 2018 after obtaining entrance to this prestigious veterinary school on her first attempt, and graduated early from the University of the Incarnate Word with a bachelor’s degree in biology and a minor in nutrition. During her undergraduate years, she also competed as an NCAA championship and academic all-American athlete as a competitive swimmer.
Dr. Leach’s love for animals has always existed. At age 11, she started volunteering at a local small animal veterinary clinic where later she was employed. Her early diagnostic efforts helped extend the life of her first dog, who had a rare hereditary disease. From there, her family home became a refuge for animals in need, where she gained experience in diagnosing an animal’s condition, identifying their needs, restoring their health, and finding loving homes. Dr. Leach found that she enjoyed working in all facets of vet med including pristine equine hospitals, rural bovine clinics, and mixed animal mobile practices to name a few.
Always the teacher, Dr. Leach makes an effort to transfer her passion, compassion and excellence to those around her. Throughout high school and college, she owned a private swim lesson business and served as a swim team coach teaching hundreds of young people to gain valuable life skills. She also served on 8 consecutive mission trips to Honduras providing no-cost veterinary services to impoverished communities, where families depend on their animals for their livelihood. These experiences helped solidify her perspective, empathy and humility, which translate into her daily approach in leading her team, fostering both professional and individual growth.
Outside of work, Dr. Leach and her husband, Ben, are raising their three young daughters within a close-knit family and faith community, and are expecting their fourth child in August 2026. Dr. Leach enjoys camping with her family, mommy-me coffee dates, propagating plants, baking a new sourdough recipe, arranging flowers, decorating cakes, and run-swim dates with her husband. During family gatherings, you’ll often find Dr. Leach on the floor with pets and children, enjoying time with all of God’s creatures, great and small.
“Dr. Leach has become my favorite vet I have ever worked with ... I would drive up to an hour just to continue to receive their care.”
